Candice Parent has been involved with the Colby volleyball program since the fall of 1993 and begins her 24th season as head coach in the 2018-19 academic year. Her program was honored in 2005 and 2002 when Parent was named NESCAC Coach of the Year.
Parent reached a milestone in the 2012-13 season, earning her 300th career victory at Colby.
Parent helped the Mules to four straight 20-plus win seasons from 2002 to 2005, including a 37-4 record and a trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament Final Eight in 2005.
In 1997 and 2001 her colleagues selected her as the Maine State Coach of the Year. In December 1999 Parent was selected as the female recipient of the Rick Pierce Award, a regional award based on sportsmanship, competitiveness, and volunteerism given out annually by the Yankee Volleyball Association. Parent continues to play volleyball at the highest-level tournaments in New England through the USA Volleyball Association and each year she participates in the USA Volleyball Nationals at various sites across the country.
Parent is a graduate of University of Maine at Farmington and was inducted into the Beavers' Hall of Fame in 2010.
Parent and her husband, Mark, are the parents of five children -- Emily, Matthew, Daniel, Ryan, and Lydia.
