Women's tennis wins two more flights at NEWITT tourney

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. -- Lydia Venditti and Callie Nesbitt combined to win the 'B' Flight and the 'C' Flight team of Gabriela Venditti and Jessica Tsai also were victorious for the Colby College women's tennis team at the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament (NEWITT) on Sunday.

"It was a great weekend overall. Everyone played well and competed hard and I think we showed how deep our team is," Colby head coach Adam Reeb said. "It was a good way to finish the fall and something to build on heading into the spring season." 
Lydia Venditti and Nesbitt took a 2-1 win over a doubles team from Mount Holyoke in the 'B' championship match. The Colby duo were the top-seeded the flight. Lydia Venditti took a tough 7-5, 6-3 win in her singles match, while Nesbitt had it easier with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
Gabriela Venditti and Tsai also were the top seed in the 'C' draw. The pair coasted to a 3-0 win over Gordon College's top team in the championship match. Tsai and Gabriela Venditti coasted to an 8-0 win in doubles. Both also had straight set victories of 6-4, 6-3 (Tsai) and 6-2, 6-0 (Venditti) in the singles matches. 
The Mules won the championship in three of the four draws. Katherine Dougherty and Lindsey Hernandez combined to win the 'D' Flight on Saturday.
