WATERVILLE, Maine -- Hannah Griffin, Addie Paige, and Steph Fawell all had two victories for the Colby College women's swimming and diving team in a 158-135 setback to Bates College on Saturday.
"Both the men's and women's teams swam with incredible passion, determination, and effort. There were many season-bests throughout the meet in races and on the boards for both teams," Colby head coach Tom Burton said. "It was both team's best performance this season and really highlight both our strengths and depth. It will be exciting to build off this meet as we prepare for the NESCAC meet over the next month."
First-years Griffin and Paige continue to earn wins and pile up points for the Mules. Griffin won the 200 freestyle in 2:00.28, the 200 individual medley with a 2:15.13, and took second in the 200 backstroke (2:12.43).
Paige won the 500 freestyle (5:18.62), the 200 butterfly (2:10.86), and placed second in the 100 freestyle (54.89).
Fawell (pictured) was a winner in the 1-meter diving (214.25) and on the 3-meter board (204.65). Colby teammate Alicia Elliott was second in 3-meter diving and Kirsten Johnston was second in 1-meter.
The Mules (2-3 overall) also had two runner-up finishes from Lacey Wright in the 500 freestyle (5:21.23) and the 1,000 freestyle (10:54.76). Other seconds went to Abigail Taylor-Roth in the 200 breaststroke (2:35.60), Olivia Hammer-Grant in the 50 freestyle (25.27)
