Mullaney, Ku, Silverman have wins in match at nationals

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Colby College's Devin Mullaney had a dramatic 3-2 win at the first position, but Dickinson College won two 3-2 matches on the way to a 6-3 victory in opening round play of the Walker Cup at the National Women's Squash Team Championships on Friday.

The 24th-ranked Mules nearly pulled off the upset of 17th-ranked Dickinson. Colby will now take on 20th-ranked Franklin & Marshall in a consolation semifinal match Saturday at 9 a.m. at Harvard University. The Walker Cup is for teams ranked 17 to 24 in the country.

Mullaney won 11-9, 6-11, 11-9, 11-13, 11-4 over Hedvika Suchankova. Sydney Annalise Ku won in straight sets at the fourth spot and Olivia Silverman won in three sets at five for the Mules.
