Brokaw, Hatch, Horwood, Moore honored for academics

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College's Jackie Brokaw (Waterbury, Conn.), Maddie Hatch (Wilbraham, Mass.), Bridget Horwood (Scarsdale, N.Y.), and Rebecca Moore (Concord, Mass.) were selected to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III Academic Honor Roll on Monday.

Colby also earned the IWLCA Academic Honor Squad award for having a team grade point average of at least 3.0. 
The four Colby players earned their honors for having a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or greater. Those honored had to be either a junior or senior. Hatch was a biology major, Brokaw majored in psychology, Horwood is a double major in French and psychology, and Moore was a history major.
Hatch made the honor roll for the second straight year and also was a three-time New England Small College Athletic Conference Spring All-Academic Team selection. An IWLCA All-Region midfielder selection, she finisher her Colby career with 37 goals, 19 assists, 92 draw controls, 73 ground balls, and 40 caused turnovers. 
Brokaw was a two-time All-American on defense, a four-time All-Region selection, a three-time All-NESCAC pick, the NESCAC Rookie of the Year, and Colby's Millett Award winner as top senior female athlete. She finished her career with 114 ground balls and 85 caused turnovers.
Horwood, the lone junior among the four players, had her best season in 2018 with six goals and five assists for 11 points. The attacker made the NESCAC Spring All-Academic Team in both eligible years.
Moore, who played field hockey at Colby, also had her best season while playing on defense. She was a three-time honoree for the NESCAC Spring All-Academic Team.
