Women's hockey drops game to Panthers

MIDDLEBURY, Vermont – Elizabeth Brashich and McKinley Karpa scored goals for Colby College, but eighth-ranked Middlebury College pulled away in the second period for a 6-2 NESCAC win Friday.

The two teams will play again Saturday at 3 p.m.

Game highlights

* The Panthers (14-3-3 overall, 9-2-2 NESCAC) scored two goals in the final 1:36 of the opening period. 

* Middlebury scored four straight goals in the second period in the opening 13:59 of play.

* Brashich tallied from Carly Thomas and Moira Mullaney (pictured) at 15:47 of the second period for Colby (10-8-3, 7-8-0). Brashich scored on a rebound off a shot by Thomas.

*   The Mules notched the only goal of the final stanza at the 2:01 mark, with Karpa sliding a loose puck under Han’s trapper by the left post. Lexi Cafiero had the assist on the score.

By the numbers

* Cierra San Roman and Savannah Shaw combined for 30 saves for Colby.

* Lin Han stopped 10 shots for the Panthers.
