Women's hockey has 53 shots in 2-2 tie with Becker

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Colby College women's hockey team fired 53 shots on goal, but had to rally for a 2-2 overtime tie with Becker College in non-conference play Saturday.
The Mules move to 3-2-2 overall after weekend ties against Nichols and Becker. 
Game highlights
* The Mules had shot totals of 15, 19, and 18 in the first three periods. Becker (1-9-3), though, had a 7-1 margin in the overtime session.
* Despite the shot advantage, Michaela Martin scored at 6:58 of the first period for Becker. The Hawks went up 2-0 at 15:39 of the second period on a goal by Claudia Gee. All four goals in the game were on the power play.
* Anna Cosntino scored her first of the season at 8:07 of the third period to cut the margin in half. Tess Dupre and Lexi Cafiero (pictured) had assists.
* Dupre's second goal of the season tied the game with just 5:26 remaining in regulation off a pass from Cosentino.
By the numbers
* Savannah Shaw stopped 22 shots for the Mules, while Madison Rigsby made 51 saves for Becker.
* The two teams combined for 15 penalties.
* Colby's Lauren Klein had 17 face-off wins.

* The Mules are back in action Sunday, Dec. 30, at home against Lake Forest at 2 p.m.
