WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Colby College women's second varsity 8 placed third overall in racing in Worcester, MA on Saturday against 4 teams that are nationally ranked.
The Mules had a time of 7:35.95 over 2,000 meters of racing. Wesleyan won the race in 7:21.63, followed by WPI in second at 7:26.23. Smith and Hamilton finished behind the Mules at 7:41.95 and 7:50.18 respectively.
Ellie Parker (coxswain), Stewart Egan (8), Eliza Mushinski (7), Alison Obstler (6), Itsy Seeman(5), Annabel McLaughlin (4), Katie Squires (3), Kate Burke (2), and Alyssa Kent (1) raced in the second varsity eight for the Mules.
In varsity 8 racing, the Mules placed fifth of five boats with a time of 7:28.76 over 2,000 meters. WPI, ranked 3rd nationally, crossed the line first in 7:03.7, followed by 6th ranked Smith in 7:09.02, 5th ranked Wesleyan in 7:11.82, and 12th ranked Hamilton in 7:15.73.
Lillie Kontor (coxswain), Cara Moynihan (8), Katie McKinley (7), Alessandra Grossman (6), Carlin Schildge (5), Ellie Krossa (4), Marta Torelli (3), Helen Watson (2) and Lilly Watson (1) raced in the varsity eight for the Mules.
In third varsity eight racing, the Mules took fourth place with a time of 7:56.45 over 2,000 meters. Smith crossed the line first with a time of 7:34.5, followed by Wesleyan in second at 7:40.14, and WPI in third at 7:40.5. Hamilton trailed the Mules finishing in 8:27.3.
Riley Karp (coxswain), Charlotte Jones (8), Lucy Weaver (7), Lucia Middleton (6), Sloane Hauck (5), Abby Conway (4), Caitie O'Sullivan (3), Helen Carroll (2), and Jodie Cen (1) raced in the third varsity eight for the Mules.
The Mules compete next on Saturday, April 13th in Lowell, MA against the Coast Guard Academy, the University of Massachusetts – Lowell, and Amherst College.
