WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Colby College softball team, getting ready for the opening day of practice on Thursday, put on a Share the Love community service event to help those in need in the Waterville area.
The team raised more than $2,100 and packaged meals for 8,100 people in one hour on Tuesday.
Besides the softball team, there were other volunteers from Colby field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, other Mule teams, and members of the Colby community.
Colby softball opens the season with 10 games in Clermont, Fla., starting on March 25. The Mules have their home opener on Monday, April 2 with two games against Husson University starting at 4 p.m.
