Softball falls in non-conference game with Terriers

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Holly Lallis pitched a complete game, had one hit, and scored a run for the Colby College softball team in a 7-2 loss at Thomas College in non-conference play Tuesday.

Colby closes out the season with a single game at Bates College on Friday at 4 p.m. and then a home doubleheader at noon with the Bobcats on Saturday.  Colby seniors Kathleen Mason, Zena Robert, Julia Saul, and Vanessa Warshaw will be honored before the doubleheader.
By the numbers
* Lallis (pictured) also had a walk and stole a base. 
* Zena Robert had one hit and drove in a run for the Mules (2-25 overall). Hailey Rohall, the team's leading hitter, Julia Saul, and Carly Swartz also had hits for Colby.
* Lolo Niemiec had an RBI and Paige Hartnett scored one run for Colby.
* Anna Piirainen went 3-for-3, drove in two runs, and scored for Thomas (19-13).
Game highlights
* The Terriers scored three runs in the first inning and added a lone run in the fourth for a 4-0 lead.
* Lallis scored Colby's first run of the game on a sacrifice fly by Niemiec in the third inning.
* After Thomas scored one run in the third and two more in the fifth, Robert had an RBI single to bring in Hartnett.
