Fields, Harrison, Tupper, Miller lead Nordic skiers

CRAFTSBURY, Vt. -- Colby College's Zane Fields kept the terrific results coming by taking second place overall in the men's 10-kilometer classic on Saturday at the University of Vermont Carnival.

Racing was moved from Trapps Family Lodge to the Craftsbury Nordic Center.
 
Skylar Tupper led the Colby women by finishing in 22nd place in the 5K classic.
 
Fields had a time of 26 minutes, 47.9 seconds Saturday to earn a runner-up finish after winning the mass start race Friday for his third victory of the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) season. University of New Hampshire's Peter Holmes won the event.
 
Scott Harrison broke into the top 25 by placing 24th in 27:56.0, while teammate Ian Liphart was 31st with a 28:15.1. Sam Sinkler took 39th in 28:31.4, Foss Kerker placed 40th with a 28:32.1, and Gabe Forest took 41st in 28:33.3.
 
The Colby men placed fifth overall with 85 points, beating Williams, Bowdoin, and Bates.
 
Tupper had a time of 15:59.8, while teammate Kirsten Miller was 25th in 16:06.6. Claire Waichler made it three in the top 30 by placing 28th in 16:11.6.
 
The Colby women finished tied for sixth place with 63 points, ahead of Bates and Williams.
