Fields wins third EISA race with victory at UVM Carnival

STOWE, Vt. -- The Zane Fields trail show continued Friday with another victory for the Colby College junior in Nordic ski racing at the University of Vermont Carnival on Friday at the Trapp Family Lodge.

Fields won his third Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) race of the season and his fourth overall after winning the men's title at the Maine State Championships (Chummy Broomhall Cup) last weekend.
Fields had a time of 53 minutes, 18.7 seconds over the 20-kilometer course. He won by nearly nine seconds over Middlebury College's Adam Luban (53:27.4). Fields was nearly 20 seconds faster than third-place finisher Luke Brown of Dartmouth College.
Fields helped the Colby men place fifth overall with 85 points, easily in front of sixth place Bowdoin (72). 
Ian Liphart placed 28th for the Mules in 56:26.8. Scott Harrison (57:35.6), took 33rd place, Gabe Forest (57:44.4) was a place back in 34th, and Carter Hall finished 38th in 57:56.9. Foss Kerker took 45th for the Mules in 58:27.2 and Sam Sinkler was 46th in 58:27.3.
For the Colby women, Kirsten Miller took 22nd place in 49 minutes, 53 seconds in the 15K mass start. Skylar Tupper placed 29th with a time of 50:48.0 to help the Mules place eighth in the team standings.
Claire Waichler took 31st for the Mules in 50:59.0 and Vivian Hawkinson was 39th with a 51:42.0.
