Defending NESCAC champ Bailin starts outdoor season with win

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Colby College's Sage Bailin, the defending NESCAC champion in the 400-meter hurdles, started the spring outdoor track and field season with a victory at the Emory University Classic on Friday and Saturday.

Bailin had a time of 53.72 to beat the field of 36 hurdlers. He has a school record of 53.07.
 
Reeve Maddux placed fifth in the 5,000 meters (15:24.92) and Tanner Burton took sixth in the 110 hurdles (15.54). Burton also teamed with Bailin, Ben Smith, and Nick Boutin to place seventh in the 400 relay in 43.45.
 
Josiah Johnson was 11th for the Mules in the 3,000 steeplechase (10:23.73).
 
Boutin, Bailin, Aidan Sweeny, and Smith placed 12th in the 1,600 relay in 3:30.37.
