Bailin to race 400 m hurdles at NCAA Championships for Outdoor Track and Field

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Colby outdoor track and field competed at the Williams Last Chance Meet this past week. The meet served as a final opportunity for athletes to qualify for the NCAA Championships. To do so, athletes must rank in the top 20 in the country of their respective events, based on their top times and performances of the season.

Sage Bailin and Tanner Burton competed for the Mules at the Williams meet. Bailin ran in the 400 m, recording a 48.77 for his collegiate personal best. The time was 0.59 seconds away from qualification, but Bailin went into the meet having already qualified for nationals in the 400 m hurdles.

Burton competed in the 110 m hurdles, running a personal best on 14.91. His time was 0.3 seconds out of qualification, however.

Bailin's time of 53.27 in the 400 m hurdles, which he ran in the preliminaries at the New England Outdoor Championships, ranks him 13th in the country heading into nationals. The top time run in Division III in the event so far this year is 51.87. He begins competition in Ohio on May 23rd.
