WATERVILLE, Maine -- Sage Bailin, who broke the Colby College men's 400-meter hurdles record for the second straight week, was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Track and Field Performer of the Week on Monday.
Bailin broke his own record in the event with a time of 53.40 at Princeton University's Larry Ellis Invitational on Saturday. He placed fifth overall out of 30 competitors in a field of Division I hurdlers.
Bailin broke a 20-year-old school record in the 400 hurdles on April 14 with a time of 54.03 at the Southern New Hampshire University Invitational.
Bailin gets another opportunity to break his own record this Saturday on a big stage -- the NESCAC Track and Field Championships. The 400 hurdles is set for a 3:15 p.m. start at Trinity College.
Bailin is the second straight NESCAC Performer of the Week for the Mules. James Gibson was honored last Monday after breaking a 49-year-old school record in the long jump.
