WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Colby College men's lacrosse team opened the season with a 24-6 setback to fourth-ranked Amherst College in NESCAC play Saturday at Harold Alfond Stadium.
By the numbers
* Colby's Joe Paolatto and Jung Shin had a solid day taking face-offs. Paolatto was 9-for-13 and had four ground balls, while Shin was 10-of-20 and scooped five ground balls.
* CJ Hassan led the Mules with a pair of goals, while Lane Kadish added three assists.
* The Mules also received one goal and one assist from Riley Bergstrom. Bret Miller had his first collegiate goal, Charlie Lynch added one score, and Bill Jacobs had a goal.
* Cooper Giblin, a first-year goaltender, had eight saves while playing the second half for Colby.
* Nick Percarpio led all Colby field players with four ground balls.
* Colin Minicus had five goals to lead the Mammoths. Evan Wolf had two goals and seven assists.
