WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College goaltender Sean Lawrence (Granite Bay, Calif.) was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week after earning two victories over rival Bowdoin College this past weekend.

Lawrence allowed just three goals in two wins over the Polar Bears and earned the Peter Schuh Memorial Trophy as the game MVP in a 6-1 victory at Bowdoin. He also was the key player in the game with 34 saves in Colby's 4-2 win over the Polar Bears at home on Friday.
Lawrence made 27 of his 34 saves at Alfond Rink on Friday after the two teams were deadlocked at 1-1 heading into the final 20 minutes. Lawrence, now 4-1 on the season, made 24 of his 32 saves in the final two periods in a game that was tied 1-1 after the opening period at Bowdoin.
Lawrence ranks third in the NESCAC in goals against average (1.60) and third in percentage (.949), but is second in both categories among goalies with 150 minutes played or more.
Colby is 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the NESCAC heading into Friday's 7 p.m. home game with Connecticut College. The Mules entertain Tufts University on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the final game of the first semester.
