WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College's Sam Jefferson (Newton, Mass.) earned the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor and was selected as Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association Player of the Week.
Jefferson averaged 27.3 points, shot 58.6 percent from 3-point range (17-for-29), 54.8 percent from the field (23-of-42), 86.4 percent from the foul line (19-for-22), and pulled down 5.3 rebounds in a 3-0 week.
Jefferson shot 64.3 percent from the field on the way 29 points and 6-of-10 shooting from 3-point range in Saturday's win at sixth-ranked Hamilton College. He had 19 points, five rebounds, four 3-point shots, and was 5-for-6 from the foul line in the final 2:42 of the game.
Against 19th-ranked Amherst College, Jefferson had 24 points and was 12-of-14 from the foul line. He had 13 points, was 2-of-3 from long range, and made seven free throws in the second half.
Jefferson started the week with 29 points, 7-of-12 shooting from 3-point range, two blocks, and no turnovers in a tight win over Husson University.
In the latest NESCAC statistics, Jefferson is third in conference scoring (20.3), tied for fourth in overall scoring (18.6), first in the league in made 3-pointers per game (3.5), sixth in 3-point percentage (44.1), and eighth in free throw percentage (80.9).
The Mules (15-5 overall, 3-3 NESCAC) play host to eighth-ranked Williams College at 7 p.m. Friday.
