Strahorn named NCAA Division III Coach of the Week

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College men's basketball head coach Damien Strahorn '02, who led the Mules to two wins against nationally-ranked opponents and another victory at the buzzer, was named the NCAA Division III Coach of the Week on Monday.

Facing a daunting NESCAC weekend on the road, Strahorn helped Colby to an 83-73 victory over 19th-ranked Amherst College in Friday's game. The team headed to Clinton, N.Y., and took an 86-78 win against sixth-ranked Hamilton College in Saturday's contest.
The Mules started the week by gaining some momentum with a thrilling 101-98 non-conference win over Husson University. Ty Williams hit a running 3-point shot at the buzzer to win the game.
The Mules are 15-5 overall and 3-3 in the NESCAC. The schedule does not lighten up this weekend, with eighth-ranked Williams College coming to Waterville for a 7 p.m. game Friday. The Mules also play host at 3 p.m. Saturday to Middlebury College, which received votes in last week's national poll.
