Stewart reaches 1,000 career points

AMHERST, Mass. -- Colby College's Patrick Stewart went over 1,000 career points after scoring 23, but the Mules fell 81-67 to Amherst College in NESCAC men's basketball Saturday.

Stewart (pictured) became the 38th player in Colby men's basketball history to reach 1,000 points. He currently has 1,003 points after shooting 9-for-16 from the field. He also had eight rebounds.

Sam Jefferson added eight points for the Mules (7-9 overall, 0-5 NESCAC). Sean Gilmore and Maximilian Steiner each had eight points, while Ethan Schlager scored six, had eight rebounds, and four assists. Tyler Williams had a game-high six assists.

Johnny McCarthy led Amherst (12-4, 3-2 NESCAC) with 19 points on 8-for-14 shooting and eight rebounds. Jacob Nabatoff finished with 14 points and nine boards. 
The Mules had a higher field goal percentage in the game, but the Purple & White shot 84.4 percent (27-for-32) from the foul line. The Mules were just 6-for-9 from the free-throw line.
