Allison Lancaster has been hired as the assistant coach for the Colby College field hockey team.
She will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the program, including practice planning, on-field coaching, individual workouts and video analysis.
"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Lancaster back home and to Colby College," head coach Kelly Terwilliger said. "I know Allie will be a first-class ambassador of our program, the athletics department and Colby College. As a former Maine Player of the Year, Allie is a highly regarded field hockey role model in the state of Maine. Working alongside Allie, it is clear that she teaches more than just the game of hockey; she utilizes coaching to develop young people. We look forward to the expertise and energy that Allie will provide in making us better students, athletes and leaders in our Colby community."
Allison Lancaster comes to Colby after a standout Division I playing career at Providence College from 2015-2018. She was team captain during the 2018 campaign and was a consistent starter in the attack for the Friars. During her time as a college athlete, Lancaster competed internationally in Belgium, Germany and Holland.
Lancaster is a native of Cornville, Maine and played for legendary head coach and recent Maxprep's National Field Hockey Coach of the Year, Paula Doughty.
Lancaster was a four-year starter and team captain for Skowhegan Area High School. Winning every game of her high school career, she was named Miss Maine Field Hockey Player of the Year in 2013, recognizing her as the top player in the state. In addition to garnering First Team All-State, Morning Sentinel Player of the Year and Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference (KVAC) Player of the Year, Lancaster was named a Portland Press Herald and Maine Field Hockey Association All-State selection as a junior and Harrow Sports/NFHCA All-Region pick (New England).

Lancaster's sister, Caitlyn, is a Colby College graduate and was a three-year starter and captain for the field hockey team from 2008-2012. With deep family ties to Colby, Lancaster grew up following, supporting and cheering for Colby Field Hockey.
"I am thrilled to return to my home state to work with the Colby College field hockey team. When I wasn't playing field hockey growing up, I was watching my older sister play for Colby. Colby's program is one that I am no stranger to and look forward to sharing my knowledge and helping shape these talented student athletes."
