Waterville, Maine - Junior captain Marcus Bullard was honored by the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) as an All-NESCAC Second Team selection for the 2019 season. The Brockton, Mass. native was injured in week eight against Tufts University and was unable to play in the final game of the season against Bowdoin College, but he still led the team in many defensive categories and ranked in the top tier of the NESCAC for several as well.
Bullard recorded double digit tackles in six out of eight contests, with a season high coming at Middlebury College on October 12. The Mules narrowly missed knocking off the eventual conference champions on the road, falling by one point. He had 15 total tackles in that game and one sack and his only interception of the season. The Middlebury game began a stretch of four in a row to end the season where he recorded 10+ tackles in each.
Bullard's largest strength is simply being a great tackler. He has the speed to pursue a ball carrier sideline to sideline, and he has the toughness to plug holes up the middle. Even with missing the final game of the year down in Brunswick, Bullard ranked second in the NESCAC in solo tackles and third in total tackles, and topped the conference in tackles per game with 10.4.
