Alpine ski teams open up EISA season Saturday at Sugarloaf

WATERVILLE, Maine -- With success already in the preseason races, the Colby College alpine ski teams open up the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) season with the Colby Carnival at Sugarloaf on Saturday and Sunday.

The Mules, under head coach Danny Noyes, will compete in the giant slalom Saturday. The women's first run is scheduled for a 9:10 a.m. start, with the men's first run at approximately 10:25 a.m. The second run for the women will begin at 12:45 p.m. and the men are scheduled to ski at 1:45 p.m.
 
The men will start Sunday's slalom racing with a first run at 9:10 a.m., followed by the men at 10:25 a.m. The second run for the men starts at 12:45 p.m., with the women to follow at 1:45 p.m. The awards ceremony for both days is at 3 p.m.
 
The Colby teams combined for five victories in FIS races at Sugarloaf and Sunday River during the preseason events. Men's co-captain Max Richard and first-years Matt Wilson and Colbey Derwin each won a race at Sugarloaf. Sandy Schoepke, a women's co-captain, and first-year Julia Chahine both won FIS races at Sunday River.
