Colby has 71 honored for NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College had 71 winter sport athletes earn New England Small College Athletic Conference All-Academic Team honors Friday.

Senior men's squash player Elliot Gross and junior men's basketball player Sam Jefferson were both named All-NESCAC in their respective sports and made the all-academic team.

Colby seniors Georganna Benedetto (women's swimming), Brit Biddle (women's track), Alicia Elliott (women's diving), Katie Fenton (women's hockey), Gross, Olivia Hammer-Grant (women's swimming), Scott Harrison (men's Nordic skiing), Josiah Johnson (men's track), Madi Keohane (women's swimming), Katherine King (women's swimming), Gabe Kline (men's track), Rachel Leonard (women's track), Sophie Stokes Cerkvenik (women's track), Abigail Taylor-Roth (women's swimming), and Meg Yoder (women's Nordic skiing) were all honored for the third time.

The minimum grade point average was moved from 3.40 to 3.50 for the 2018-19 academic year. Despite the change, Colby had just six fewer honorees and ranked second in the NESCAC for lowest total. Nine of the 11 schools were down 14 or more from last year.
