Klein, Perticone named to women's lacrosse All-American teams

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College senior midfielder Emilie Klein (North Andover, Mass.) and senior attacker Lexie Perticone (Darien, Conn.) each earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-American honors for the first time on Friday.

Klein (right), the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year, was named to the first team. Perticone, the assist leader in the conference, was selected to the second team.

Klein had 19 goals and 12 assists for 31 points this past season. She also had 38 draw controls, 35 caused turnovers, and 31 ground balls. Klein is first in the NESCAC in caused turnovers, 12th in ground balls, and 13 in draw controls. She finished her career with 40 goals, 19 assists, 100 draw controls, 93 ground balls, and 87 caused turnovers.

"Emilie is a versatile player and has an impact on every aspect of the game," Colby head coach Karen Henning said. "Although her teammates and coaches have always recognized her value, it is nice to see that others do as well."

Perticone leads the NESCAC in total assists (31) and ranks third in total points (65) this season. She was 5-for-9 in free-position shots and added 22 ground balls. Perticone finished her career with 66 goals and 64 assists for 130 points.

"Lexie was an incredibly balanced attacker, scoring goals and assisting her teammates," said Henning, who has 16 players earn 23 All-American honors in her 10 seasons at Colby. "It is great to see her receive this honor from the IWLCA."

Klein and Perticone (right) were both named to the All-NESCAC First Team and the IWLCA Pilgrim (New England) Region First Team. The pair helped the Mules go 15-4, won the program's third NESCAC title, and qualify for the NCAA tourney.
