BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The 18th-ranked Colby College women's lacrosse team had a 3-0 lead in the first half only to have 16th-ranked Hamilton College put together a big second half in an 8-5 victory on Sunday at Bowdoin College.
Casey File led the Continentals with three goals, while Kara Pooley, Darby Philbrick, Nora Klemmer, and Morgan Fletcher all had one goal and one assist.
Hamilton scored three man-up goals in the second half after Colby took a 3-1 lead into halftime. The Continentals used a 7-2 advantage in draw controls in the final 30 minutes to earn key possessions.
Hamilton took a little momentum into the second half when File scored with 7:08 to intermission. The Continentals had a long possession and were rewarded when Klemmer's pass to a cutting File produced their first goal.
Klemmer scored unassisted when she came in hard around the net on the left side and scored on a tough angle to tie it at 3-3 just 21 seconds after File's goal. Pooley ended the 3-0 scoring run with a free-position goal to give Hamilton the lead for good.
Tatiana Bradley went to the lower right corner on her free-position shot with 14:41 to play for a man-up goal and a 6-3 lead. Philbrick scored an important goal with 6:26 remaining when Pooley found her alone at the left post for the goal.
Fletcher closed out the scoring when she tallied into an empty net, with Scribano was out trying to create a turnover with 11 seconds remaining.
The game was played at Bowdoin because of temperature conditions at Colby on a cold and windy day in Maine.
