WATERVILLE, Maine -- The 20th-ranked Colby College women's lacrosse team scored 10 straight goals and kept Wellesley College off the scoreboard for the final 38:34 of the game to pull away for a 19-4 non-conference win Friday at Bill Alfond Field.
Colby's Lexie Perticone finished with two goals and four assists to raise her season totals to 15 goals and 15 assists for 30 points. Banks Dotson added three goals, while Sasha Fritts, Emma Banks (pictured), Kendall Smith, and Cassie Rodgers all had two goals. Hannah Newhall and Chrissy Coveney each had one goal and one assist.
The Mules scored the first four goals of the game in the opening 7:41 of the contest. Smith had both of her goals, Fritts had one goal, and Emilie Klein also scored.
Coveney tallied from Perticone just 14 seconds after Persky's goal to put the Mules up 5-2. Perticone scored unassisted and Banks tallied off a free-position shot for a 7-2 Mule lead.
The Blue scored their final goal with 8:34 left in the half on Sharkin's goal from Lena Engbretson. Celeste Murtha scored from Kelsey Bowen with 5:09 remaining and Perticone scored off the first collegiate assist from Julia Maser with 13 seconds to play for an 11-4 lead at the break.
Colby had a 35-17 shot advantage in the game. Sam Burch stopped six shots in the opening half and Izzy Scribano made three stops in the final 30 minutes. Klein had three caused turnovers, two ground balls, and one draw control. Jackie Brokaw added two caused turnovers and three ground balls. Newhall finished with a team-high four draw controls and Madeleine Hatch added three draws.
Wendy Nettleton played the first half and made five saves for Wellesley. Chloe Tucker added four saves in the second half.
